Modern Slavery Statement for Financial Year 2023/24

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the slavery and human trafficking transparency statement for the 2023/24 fiscal year of Esquire Retail Limited, trading as Clintons (“Clintons”)

Our Business

Clintons is a leading retailer of greeting cards, gifts, and wrap. We have stores over the UK, including Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Channel Islands.

Our Supply Chain

We source our products from Suppliers around the World, including the Asia-Pacific region, the United States, and the UK.

Clintons recognizes modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour and is committed to responsible corporate citizenship by the elimination of all forms of modern slavery from our supply chain. Clintons uses a wide range of suppliers who supply goods for sale, provide services and support our operations. We expect each of our suppliers to operate their business with integrity and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including those addressing modern slavery.

Clintons has used independent, third party, social compliance auditors as needed to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards, including but not limited to prohibitions on human trafficking and slavery in supply chains. Audits not only include inspection of facilities, but extend to review of documents, records, policies, and procedures. Both group and individual worker interviews were also conducted as part of such audits.

Training

Clintons provides advice and guidance to those in our teams who have responsibility for relevant supply chains. They are made aware of the risks of modern Slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and business.

Clintons’ employees and management who have direct responsibility for supply chain management participate in training on the social compliance process, particularly with respect to mitigating risks within its supply chain partners.
